WAUKESHA COUNTY PARKS VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Volunteering with the Waukesha County Park System is a great opportunity for individuals and companies to enjoy the outdoors while giving back to the community in various ways.

Waukesha County Park System includes:
8 Parks (Menomonee, Fox Brook, Minooka, Muskego, Mukwonago, Fox River, Naga-Waukee, Nashotah)
2 Ice Arenas – Eble and Naga-Waukee
3 Golf Courses – Wanaki, Moor Downs, and Naga-Waukee
Retzer Nature Center
Exposition Center

Project needs vary depending on the time of year and the current projects going on within the Park System. In general, the need is for natural land management work involving basic hand tools (shovels, wheelbarrows, rakes, etc). Samples of previous projects include: tree/brush/flower plantings, trail wood chipping, invasive species removal, and park clean up projects.

We also provide volunteer opportunities for groups at special events throughout the Park System:

  • Citizen’s Cross Country Ski Race (January)– Nashotah Park
  • Waukesha Winter JanBoree (January)– Retzer Nature Center
  • Wild Winter Night (February)– Retzer Nature Center
  • Earth Week Activities (April)– Retzer Nature Center
  • Apple Harvest Festival (September)– Retzer Nature Center
  • Minooka Mash Halloween Event (October) – Minooka Park

If interested in volunteering with the Park System please contact Holly Glainyk (see below contact information).  For group service projects, please be prepared to share the following information so we can do our best to match your request with our current projects needs: number of participants, desired date of project, number of hours available, type of project preferred, and park location preferred. We also request that we be contacted at least a month in advance of desired date for group projects, to allow time for coordination and gathering of appropriate project materials.
