TEACHING TOOL KIT:
Just for Teachers - Resources On Loan. Besides the videos, displays and other handouts available through our office, there are now watershed boxes available for teachers. Each box has 9 units or lessons that start with the simple concept of water as a limited resource and work through what a watershed is, and how land use and other factors can affect the watershed. The boxes have all the materials needed to complete the hands-on activities included with each lesson.

Lessons are taken from Project WET, a nationally developed water education curriculum. Most lessons are appropriate for elementary and middle school age children, but also include options for gearing the lesson up or down. Teachers are welcome to pick and choose lessons as they feel appropriate.

There are also boxes about soils and wetlands, with a water history box in the works as well. To check out what?s in the box, call Jayne Jenks at 896-8305 and Check It Out!

SPEAKERS BUREAU:
Managing our natural resources, protecting the public health or sound land use planning often begins with education. For this reason, the Waukesha County Department of Parks and Land Use can provide speakers on a variety of topics for your group, organization or classroom.

Our speakers are trained volunteers or professional staff, working with the issues every day. They can provide knowledge with practical experience.

Scheduling a speaker is easy - and it's free! To arrange for a speaker, please call the Waukesha County Department of Parks and Land Use at (262) 896-8300. We can tailor our programs to meet your needs.
